Back To School Tips with Addi

8/28/2021

By Addison Evans
As school is quickly approaching, students all around the world are preparing to see their friends— face-to-face. Here are 9 back to school tips that are sure to help you this year:
  •  Have a positive mindset.
School can definitely be stressful, especially for people who haven’t had exceptional experiences. It’s important to think fresh and start on a clean slate. This year is your best one yet.

  • Create routines.
Start waking up early in the morning to get into a routine for school. According to Christoph Randler from Harvard Business Review, “People whose performance peaks in the morning are better positioned for career success, because they’re more proactive than people who are at their best in the evening.” Waking up early helps stimulate your brain earlier & allows you maximum time to get ready for school.

  • Have a planner.
I don’t know about you but I love organization! Having a planner reminds you to stay on track with schoolwork and extracurricular activities. Plus, planners get filled up so quickly so you can look at how productive you’ve been for the day.

  • Be involved.
Regardless of whether or not you want to get into a prestigious college or not, become involved in something. It’s a great opportunity to give you something to do, meet new people, and help you develop leadership skills. Be a girl boss and go for it!

  • Make sure you have your materials.
If you were given a supply list, make sure you get all of your needed materials. Your teachers will appreciate that you followed their instructions.

  • Prioritize mental health.
People often forget to prioritize mental health. With everything going on, you put school over everything and it seems that you have time for nothing else. You are your main priority.

  • Try to participate/listen in your classes.
As boring as listening to your teacher drag on about the importance of y=mx+b is, try your best to pay attention and show interest. Teachers work so hard to help make learning easier for you and they recognize when you care.

  • Ask teachers if you need help.
Teachers really do care about you — well most of them. If you need help, don’t be afraid to speak up. Chances are that you aren’t the only person who needs help.

  • Don’t stress.
Not stressing is easier said than done. I was just listening to Emma Chamberlain’s [girl boss!!!] podcast, Anything Goes, where she talks about failure. She said that if she could go back and tell her younger self something it would be that if she failed every single test she took in school, it wouldn’t matter as long as she was trying her best. I don’t know about you but that really helps me because I’m known to stress about anything school related.

With these tips, you’re all set on having the best school year possible!
